About the Role
The Field Engineer will mainly be responsible for maintenance and operations of the Telecom sites in Ishara Towers Rwanda including Remote Monitoring System (RMS).
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the RMS efficiency of sensors and communication, data accuracy, connectivity issues; and verify that sensor readings are correctly reflected in the monitoring platform.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom power systems and passive infrastructure, including AC/DC systems, rectifiers, generators, ATS, electrical panels, RMS, and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, test, and commission electrical and electronic equipment to ensure reliable power availability across assigned telecom sites.
- Monitor RMS performance, sensor accuracy, connectivity, and site data, resolving or escalating identified issues.
- Optimize energy performance and generator runtime through effective hybrid power solutions, fuel management, and monitoring of generator performance and consumption.
- Oversee diesel management, ensuring adequate fuel availability, monitoring abnormal consumption, and escalating potential shortages.
- Supervise contractors and service providers carrying out operations and maintenance activities and ensure work meets required standards.
- Maintain the safety, security, cleanliness, access, and overall condition of assigned sites while ensuring full compliance with HSSE requirements and Ishara policies.
- Maintain accurate site records, asset registers, equipment movements, and maintenance information, and communicate/escalate critical or recurring operational issues to relevant stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Engineering management, Civil/Electrical /Electronics Engineering, and other related fields
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Telecom Operations and Maintenance
